Hometown Holidays to Feature Four Stages, Local Food Favorites and Kids’ Fun

More than 25 local, regional and national performing artists will take the stage as the streets of Rockville Town Center come alive with music, amusements and the best local food during the Hometown Holidays Music Fest, Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28.

The 29th annual Memorial Day weekend music festival is a destination for music lovers, featuring performances on four stages across six city blocks.

“Laissez les bons temps rouler” (“Let the good times roll!”) with three acts who call New Orleans home on the Bud Light Beach Stage. Big Sam’s Funky Nation brings its “Noladelic Powerfunk” at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Honey Island Swamp Band plays bayou Americana and roots rock at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Mardi Gras Indian funk band Cha Wa represents the Big Easy on the stage at 4 p.m. Saturday. Maryland represents on the stage with roots reggae from Baltimore’s Jah Works at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the “phat blues music” of Baltimore’s Kelly Bell Band at 4 p.m. Sunday joined by the original “Bad Boys of Bethesda,” The Nighthawks, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Artists on the Maryland Avenue Stage will include:

  • The Appalachian rock of Big Daddy Love at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
  • The folk/rock/country of Shane Smith & The Saints at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
  • The ’70s lo-fi pop/rock/contemporary soul/blues of Hannah Gill & the Hours at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
  • The funk/reggae/rock/hip-hop of Tropidelic at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.The weekend will once again feature favorite food from local restaurants at the Taste of Rockville, kids’ amusements, the return of “the beach” sand pile and the 73rd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade on Monday, May 29.

    Apply Now for a Spot in the Memorial Day Parade

    Rockville’s 73rd Annual Memorial Day Parade will march through Rockville Town Center with a variety of marching bands, drill and pompom units, floats and other displays at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29.

    Rockville’s parade is a juried event, with more than $3,000 in cash prizes expected to be distributed over five parade categories. The deadline has been extended to Friday, April 28 for organizations or individuals to apply to march in the parade.
