Help Your Neighbors

Rockville supports community members in need. The city’s Community Services Division provides referrals to outside human service programs, monitors city-funded human service programs and delivers prevention and intervention programs and services for youth and families.

Rockville Emergency Assistance Program (REAP)

Emergency financial assistance is available for eligible city residents experiencing a financial crisis such as eviction, foreclosure or utility shut-off, or who need one-time-only prescription medication. Referrals for emergency food, clothing, financial/employment counseling and income tax assistance are also available. Call 240-314-8310 to determine eligibility. Information and Referrals

City staff can help residents find financial assistance, career counseling, housing and temporary shelter, emergency food, child care, treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, health care and help with many other needs. Home Rehabilitation Grants

The city helps low- and moderate-income homeowners make repairs to their homes through the Single-Family Rehabilitation program. The forgivable loan
program covers a portion or all of the cost, typically up to $25,000, of repairs such as roof replacement, plumbing and electrical upgrades, furnace replacement and kitchen and bathroom improvements. Community Mediation

Community mediation sessions can assist in resolving conflicts between neighbors, co-workers, landlords and tenants, businesses and customers or employers and employees. To discuss an issue that might be appropriate for mediation, call 240-314-8316 or visit www.rockvillemd.gov/communitymediation.

Senior Support Services

The Rockville Senior Center connects seniors to services such as information and
assistance in English and Spanish, resource referrals, customized individual assistance, home and hospital visits from staff, emergency financial assistance and financial assistance for center memberships. The center also provides transportation, snow removal, help finding contractors for home maintenance and repairs, and education, meal, and wellness programs. Rockville Villages

Villages are local, volunteer-led, grassroots organizations that support Rockville neighbors who choose to age-in-place. They foster social connections through activities and events and coordinate volunteer help at home using a neighbor-helping-neighbor model. Snow Shoveling

Seniors 60 and older may request assistance with clearing snow. To request assistance – or to volunteer to help a neighbor in need – visit www.rockvillemd.gov/2241/Snow-Shoveling or call 240-314-8810 or 240-314-8819.

Financial Assistance for Participation in Recreation Programs

The City of Rockville believes that everyone, regardless of income, should be able to participate in its recreation opportunities. The Recreation and Parks Department offers financial assistance programs so that everyone can play. Learn more at www.rockvillemd.gov/377/Financial-Assistance.

Community Empowerment Matching Grant Program

Community Empowerment Grants help neighbors work together to accomplish common goals that support the overall health, vitality and inclusivity of the place they call home. The City of Rockville offers these grants to neighbors and organizations who are willing to match funding through cash, in-kind donation and volunteer hours.
