Stonestreet Corridor Study Meeting Set for Feb. 22

The next community meeting for the Stonestreet Corridor Study will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22 at Glenview Mansion, 603 Edmonston Drive.

Based on planning analysis and input from the previous four community meetings, planning staff will present initial draft recommendations for the study. Discussion and comments on those draft recommendations are welcome.

Meetings have so far addressed sites in the study area owned by Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery County government, potential street improvements, and redevelopment concepts for opportunity areas along the corridor.

The Mayor and Council voted unanimously in February to move ahead with a comprehensive study of over 150 acres along the corridor. The study area covers, roughly, the east and west sides of North and South Stonestreet avenues, from the northern edge on Westmore Road south to where South Stonestreet Avenue ends at Veirs Mill Road. The study will also build on several previous plans that have addressed the Stonestreet corridor.
