A New Brand Identity for the City and a New Look for ‘Rockville Reports’

Community members and readers of “Rockville Reports” will notice a new look for the City of Rockville beginning this month as Rockville rolls out a new branding identity.

The Mayor and Council approved the new branding in July. Since then, city staff have worked with the city’s consultant to ready the new branding elements for their debut.

Readers will notice these new elements in this redesigned issue of “Rockville Reports,” including a redesigned “R” logo and new colors and fonts in a new flag at the top of the front page.

On March 17, the city will reveal the new brand logos, marks, fonts and colors that will be found across city media, including on the city’s website, digital and social media, Rockville 11 and in outreach materials and other publications. Each city department will have their own color and department logo.

The new brand design comes with a new brand motto — “Rise Together” — that encourages the community to come together to continue to make the Rockville the best place to live, work and play.

Organized around the idea of “Everyone in all we do,” the city’s brand statement says, in part: “The City of Rockville is an aspirational and resilient organization of public servants that exists to foster open discourse, unparalleled quality of life and an inclusive community culture. Emboldened by a deep commitment to the growth, success and health of all residents, our unique brand of ‘dynamic diversity’ is not stagnant or singularly defined.”

The brand pillars are built the idea of dynamic diversity and include safety/trust, connectedness, creativity, innovation, freedom and empathy.
