Add Volunteering to Your New Year’s To-do List

Want to do some good deeds in the new year? Rockville has dozens of opportunities available for teens and adults, from snow shoveling to mentoring to stream cleanups.

Whether your passion is helping others or the environment, you can use your free time to lend a hand. Here are some examples:

Adopt a stream: Adopt-A-Stream encourages volunteers to hold stream cleanups along Rockville streams. Even a small group of volunteers can remove large amounts of debris from streams in a short period of time.

Join a board or commission: Consider joining a board, commission or committee to help provide recommendations to the Mayor and Council on issues that matter.

Recreation and parks: Be an inclusion companion for children with differing abilities or help with afterschool programs at one of Rockville’s recreation centers.
