Breweries, Wineries and Distilleries Allowed

Breweries, wineries and distilleries with tastings and samplings? That’s now a possibility in Rockville, following a zoning ordinance amendment approved by the Mayor and Council in February.

The amendment allows full production of alcoholic beverages in some areas of the city. Production in the mixed-use employment zone must be at least 500 feet from a residential use. Limited production, such as microbreweries and microdistilleries, are allowed in other specific areas with the provision that they can’t be near a school and cannot be next to or across from a residential use in a residential zone.

Tastings and samplings would be allowed at the production facilities in accordance with state law.
