UPDATE: City Snow Emergency Remains in Effect

Trash to Be Collected on Friday, Feb. 19

Update: 7:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19:

Yard waste will not be collected today.

Update: 6:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19:

Recycling and trash will be collected as planned today, Friday, Feb. 19.

With collections previously scheduled for a day later than usual this week due to the Presidents Day holiday, collections are scheduled as follows:

  • If your regular collection day is Wednesday, your rescheduled collection day is Friday.
  • If your regular collection day is Thursday, your rescheduled collection day will be Saturday.
  • Special collections scheduled for Thursday will be collected Friday. 
  • Special collections scheduled for Friday are scheduled to be collected Saturday.
  • Note: Yard waste may not be collected Friday. The city will update the status of yard waste collection after 7 a.m. Friday.

Rockville’s snow emergency remains in effect

Recycling and Trash Collection

Rockville is planning on collecting recycling and trash on Friday, Feb. 19 unless the Montgomery County Transfer Station closes. The city will notify residents via city social media and at www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-trash as early as possible Friday about the status of recycling and trash collection for the day. We apologize for any inconvenience to recycling and trash customers.

City Services for Friday

Some city services may be impacted by the weather on Friday. People doing business with the City of Rockville are asked for patience as the city adjusts its operating status in the interest of safety for staff and the community. 

Most city facilities remain closed due to the pandemic. Non-essential city employees will be on administrative leave Friday, Feb. 19 and have been cautioned to avoid unnecessary travel to city facilities before noon Friday. Essential employees will report as directed by supervisors. Employees who are teleworking will continue to do so, as will non-essential employees who are able to telework.

Swim and Fitness Center Status

Opening of the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be delayed until noon Friday, Feb. 19 due to the weather. All reservations, programs and activities scheduled for before noon Friday are cancelled. Program participants will receive an email with makeup information.
