ELECTION 2019: What Voters Need to Know About Vote by Mail

The City of Rockville will conduct a vote by mail election on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for mayor and four councilmembers. Now is the time to make sure you are registered. Wondering what voters and potential candidates need to know now? We’ve got answers to help ensure your ballot gets to you, and you get on the ballot:

How can I vote?

In early October, ballots will be sent to every registered voter living within Rockville city limits, using the address on their registration. Voters will fill out a ballot and return it by mail (no postage required) or at the vote center or drop box at City Hall.

How do I register to vote?

Every U.S. citizen living within Rockville city limits and over the age of 18 by Nov. 5, 2019 is eligible to vote in the city election. To be sure your ballot gets to you, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/election to:

  • Check your address.
  • Update your information.
  • Register to vote.

You may also register to vote:

  • In-person at Rockville City Hall, a public library, a U.S. post office or a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration office.
  • By phone at 240-777-VOTE or 240-777-8500.

How secure is Vote by Mail?

Voting by mail is one of the most secure ways to vote. Every step in the ballot process is protected, starting with the ballots being sent in a secured envelope.

How do I become a candidate?

Candidate application information will be available beginning Wednesday, May 1 at www.rockvillemd.gov/election. The deadline to file as a candidate is Friday, Sept. 6.
