The Rockville Mayor and Council approved on June 20 a three-year agreement with Rockville Economic Development Inc. that outlays $556,770 in funding for the nonprofit organization.

“We look forward to continuing to serve the Mayor and Council, residents and business community of Rockville as the economic development agency helping businesses to launch, locate and expand in the City of Rockville,” said REDI Executive Director Laurie Boyer.
The Mayor and Council also approved funding for businesses seeking to grow or relocate in Rockville.

Boyer listed some of the organization’s accomplishments over the past four years.

•    Publishing REDI’s first-ever annual report to easily provide information to the Mayor and Council, businesses and residents about major events and highlights related to Rockville’s business community. It is available on the REDI website.
• Successfully completing REDI’s first audit with very few recommendations, highlighting the fact that they are efficiently and effectively utilizing funding to enhance business development and growth in the city.
•    REDI’s Maryland Women’s Business Center program became a Small Business Administration-recognized center, providing support and assistance to women entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses.
•    Establishing new events to provide support to local companies, including the REDI Resource Meetup program and Commercial Broker B2B Breakfast.
