Performers Wanted for MLK Day Celebration

The city’s Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for two awards to be presented as part of Rockville’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Monday, Jan. 18. Performers are also wanted for this virtual celebration.

A high school student who lives in or attends school in Rockville who has worked to fulfill King’s dream in either their school or the community will receive the Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Award. An individual, organization or business that has helped to improve the lives of people with disabilities in the City of Rockville, such as through efforts to improve accessibility or raise public awareness, will receive the F. Michael Taff Award. Find and submit nomination forms at www. rockvillemd.gov/mlk. The submission deadline is Thursday, Nov. 12.

Performers, including singers, dancers and poets, should email links to digital recordings of their most recent performances to Janet Kelly at jkelly@rockvillemd.gov by Nov. 12.
