Rockville prides itself on being a community of good neighbors — we need your help to find them.
The city is seeking nominations, through 5 p.m. Friday Feb. 25, for its Good Neighbor Awards. The program recognizes community members who are unselfishly giving back and improving quality of life in their neighborhoods through good deeds or community service.
The program is designed to honor those who make a difference in our community without seeking or receiving recognition for their service.
Nominees are sought in five categories:
- Individual adults: An individual who meets a need in the community by promoting service, social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and positive change.
- Individual youth: An individual up to 18 years of age who meets a need in the community, especially through promoting service, social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and positive change.
- Nonprofit: A group or individual dedicated to improving, encouraging, and promoting services that help to improve the lives of individuals in under-represented communities, ensuring access to resources and opportunities.
- Businesses: A group or individual dedicated to improving, encouraging and promoting sustainable economic development, especially serving under-represented communities, ensuring access to resources and opportunities.
- Rockville partner: A person or organization from outside Rockville that has contributed to the good of the city’s community.
Award nominees must be Rockville residents, except in the “Rockville partner” category, and must have made a significant contribution to an individual or the community during 2021. Nominators may not nominate themselves.
