Market Rules and Regulations to Provide for Safer Shopping
The City of Rockville’s Farmers Market is scheduled to open for the season on Saturday, June 6.
The market’s opening, traditionally in mid-May, has been postponed as part of the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, some market vendors are offering delivery and pickup options. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/farmers for more information, including a complete list of participating vendors.
The market will be open Saturdays, through Nov. 21, in the jury parking lot at East Jefferson (Route 28) and Monroe streets in Rockville Town Center.
An executive order issued by Gov. Larry Hogan prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people, reducing public contact in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The state order applies to social, cultural and community gatherings. Farmers markets are permitted to open with social distancing and other safety measures for customers and vendors. A state order requires that face coverings be worn at retail and food service establishments, including farmers markets, and on public transportation.
The city is following the state’s guidelines regarding farmers market operations during the COVID-19 emergency in an effort to reduce the risks to customers and vendors. A list of COVID-19-related rules and regulations will be made available to customers before opening day. Learn more at https://mda.maryland.gov/maryland_products/pages/farmers_market_dir.aspx.
