Rockville is No. 13 on Livability.com’s latest list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live. It’s the fourth straight year Rockville has ranked in the top 20.
Livability determines their rankings by using 40 data points, including measures of economics, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, education and health care.
Among the city’s attractions mentioned by Livability.com are its 65 parks, which put over 1,000 acres of parkland within the city’s 13.6 square miles and each home within a short walk of a park.
Rockville is the ninth most diverse city in America, according to WalletHub, with more than one-third of the city’s residents born outside the United States, and offers a wide range of cultural opportunities and special events, including the annual Hometown Holidays Music Fest in Rockville Town Center. The city also offers a wide variety of recreation programs, classes and activities for all ages, a swim and fitness center, nature center, senior center and three neighborhood community centers.
This quality of living is reflected in other recent national rankings, including a No. 1 ranking on Livability.com’s 2016 list of “Best Cities for Families.” Rockville also ranked seventh on Movoto.com’s list of “Best Places Near Washington, D.C., for Young Professionals,” sixth on its list of “Best Washington, D.C., Suburbs,” and seventh on Goodcall.com’s list of “Best Places for Women Entrepreneurs.” The city also routinely appears on best places lists compiled by publications such as “Money” magazine, “U.S. News & World Report” and “Bloomberg Businessweek.”
