Rockville has begun the search for a new city manager to fill the city’s top management spot and will hold two meetings to hear from the public on traits they’d like to see in individuals applying to the post. The Mayor and Council hired The Novak Consulting Group to conduct a national search for Rockville’s new city manager.
The consultant will hold public meetings in July to engage residents and businesses as they develop a candidate profile. The consultant will work with community members to identify high priority issues facing the community, and what leadership and management traits the city manager should possess.
Residents, business representatives and other stakeholders are invited to attend one of the following meetings, held in Rockville:
- 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at the Glenview Mansion, 603 Edmonston Drive
- 1:30-3 p.m., Thursday, July 21, at the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive
For those unable to attend, comments can be sent to [email protected].
The City of Rockville operates under a council-management form of government. The city manager implements the policies and strategic plans of the Mayor and Council, provides professional recommendations to the Mayor and Council and oversees the day-to-day management of city operations.
Craig L. Simoneau was appointed Rockville’s acting city manager in February. He succeeded Barbara B. Matthews, who served as city manager since October 2012.
