“Sherlock’s Veiled Secret,” presented by Rockville Little Theatre. 8 p.m. May 3, 4, 10, and 11; 2 p.m. May 5 and 12.
When Violet Sheridan is summoned to meet a retired Sherlock Holmes, she learns distressing information concerning her birthright. A case of blackmail puts the life of Holmes and Sheridan’s parents in peril, leaving Violet to save them from danger.

Children ages 2-13 take the stage to show off everything they’ve learned this year. A fun, light-hearted performance, meant to feel like a celebration.

“30th Anniversary,” presented by the Washington Balalaika Society. 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
The Washington Balalaika Society will celebrate its 30th anniversary with three world-class domra virtuosi, a master of the balalaika, a brilliant conductor, and an orchestra of 60 musicians.
Domra virtuosi Alexander Tsygankov, from Moscow; Tamara Volskaya; and Peter Omelchenko will join WBS balalaika concertmaster Andrei Saveliev in a concert program created by WBS conductor and artistic director Svetlana Nikonova.
The anniversary concert repertoire includes Mussorgsky’s “The Great Gate of Kiev;” Rossini’s “William Tell Overture;” Gliere’s “Russian Sailor’s Dance,” from his ballet “The Red Poppy;” Andreyev’s “Balalaika Waltz;” and the alluring “Lipa Wekowaja.”
Tickets cost $25, $20 for seniors and $15 for students. Children younger than 12 are free
“Princess Ida,” presented by the Victorian Lyric Opera Company. 8 p.m. June 7, 8, 14 and 15; 2 p.m. June 9 and 16.
A story of medieval women’s liberation. Princess Ida and her band of maidens decide to abandon men and form their own women’s university. Great fun, and some of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best music and lyrics.
Tickets are $28, $24 for seniors 65 and older and $20 for students. All tickets are $14 on June 7.
