The Parks Department collaborated with the Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation, Jerad Minnick, of Natural Grass Advisory, and the Rockville Football League to convert Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park’s ballfields to state-of-the-art Bermuda grass. Donations of $8,000 from the foundation and $4,000 from RFL, coupled with in-kind consulting from Minnick, resulted in a cost-effective way to improve the fields for high-traffic play. Rockville-based Natural Grass Advisory consults on major ballfields throughout the country. The Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to support city recreation and parks programs and facilities.
