Applause greeted news that the Rockville City Police Department has received full accreditation for the next four years from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies during their attendance at CALEA’s conference in Baltimore.

“Thank you to each and every one of you,” Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton said.

Rockville neighbors are invited to celebrate their communities on Tuesday, Aug. 2, as the Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) participates in National Night Out.

National Night Out is a longstanding program sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch that aims to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, generate support for anti-crime programs and strengthen community spirit and community policing partnerships. Neighborhoods will host block parties featuring cookouts, bounce houses, carnival games and giveaways.
