The outgoing Mayor and Council on Nov. 15 appointed Craig L. Simoneau as Rockville’s acting city manager. Mayor Monique Ashton announced the appointment at the first meeting of the new Mayor and Council on Nov. 20.
The Mayor and Council are conducting a national search for a new city manager.
Immediately before arriving in Rockville, he served as the public works director at Fort Monroe, Virginia, where he led an organization of 117 employees responsible for constructing, operating and maintaining all base facilities.
Simoneau has served as Rockville’s public works director since September 2005. He served as acting city manager from February 2016 to January 2017. A licensed professional engineer, he is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and has a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
