The Mayor and Council continued their work on the city’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget in December with the first discussion of their priorities and urge community members to get involved in the process by identifying their own priorities through an online budget survey.
Public participation in the budget process is a high priority for the Mayor and Council and city staff. A community budget priorities survey at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget is now available in simplified Chinese, French, Korean and Spanish, as well as English. The survey allows community members to identify their budget priorities and options for maintaining a balanced budget. Survey responses provide valuable input to the Mayor and Council for their budget discussions.
A discussion on Dec. 4 gave the new Mayor and Council their first opportunity to discuss their priorities. Find video of the discussion with the Dec. 4 meeting listing at www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter.
The $157.2 million budget for Fiscal Year 2024, which began July 1, keeps the city’s real property tax rate at $0.292 per $100 of assessed valuation. All residential and commercial property owners pay this tax. Rockville has not increased its property tax rate since 1995.
