Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Weekends Bring Closures in Rockville

Update, Friday, Dec. 17: The City of Rockville announced an additional holiday for city employees on Thursday, Dec. 23, when city government and most city facilities will be closed.

City government will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25, and on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 1.

The Rockville Senior Center; Croydon Creek Nature Center; Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers; Glenview Mansion; the Rockville Civic Center business office; and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will be closed. Theater tickets are always available at www.rockvillemd.gov/theatre.

The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open with limited services and activities on Friday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 31, and will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter for details.

Recycling and trash are not collected on Fridays or Saturday. For more information on recycling and trash collection, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-trash or call 240-314-8568.

Parking will be free at city-owned meters on Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
