The Mayor and Council will help kick off the holiday season at the celebration of A Season of Giving on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Rockville Town Square.

The celebration, from 5:30-8 p.m., will feature live entertainment and opportunities to give back to neighbors in need.

Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton will light a 20-foot holiday tree that features an interactive light show built exclusively for Town Square’s 10th holiday celebration.

NBC 4 Washington traffic reporter Melissa Mollet will emcee.

Community members are encouraged to bring a new or gently-worn coat and new and unwrapped toys to benefit the National Center for Children and Families, a nonprofit child and family welfare agency that assists 1,750 families each year.

Manna Food Center, Montgomery County’s largest food bank, will accept canned food donations.

Anyone who donates to NCCF or Manna will earn a ticket for a free turn in the photo booth. Town Square merchants will offer specials and promotions with a portion of proceeds benefitting the nonprofits.

Kids are invited to make a craft sponsored by VisArts. Community members can write letters to U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families with the help of Operation Gratitude.
