Mayor and Council Approve Budget Calendar, Launch Budget Survey

The Mayor and Council kicked off work on the city’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget in October with approval of the budget process calendar, a public hearing and the launch of a survey for community members to offer input on their budget priorities.

The first budget hearing, held Monday, Oct. 17, gave community members an opportunity to present their needs early in the FY 2024 budget process. Find video of the hearing with the Oct. 17 meeting listing at www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter.

Public participation in the budget process is a high priority for the Mayor and Council and city staff. A budget survey now available at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget allows community members to identify their budget priorities and options for maintaining a balanced budget. The responses will provide valuable input to the Mayor and Council for their budget discussions.

The $148.8 million budget for Fiscal Year 2023, which began July 1, keeps the city’s real property tax rate of $0.292 per $100 of assessed valuation the same. All residential and commercial property owners pay this tax. Rockville has not increased its property tax rate since 1995.
