Rockville history comes alive through stained glass in January as the Glenview Mansion and Peerless Rockville Speaker Series hosts “History and Stained Glass of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant Church.”
Chiquita Sorrels, historian of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, will deliver an illustrated presentation that explores the church’s history with a focus on its stained-glass windows.
The in-person presentation, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at Glenview Mansion at Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive, will explore how the church evolved from its founding in 1835 with a racially mixed congregation to an all-Black congregation after the Civil War and, in the 20th century, added stained-glass windows memorializing individuals and organizations in the community.
The event is free, but registration is requested at www.eventbrite.com/e/465821844677.
