Rockville work crews have pre-treated the city’s priority roads ahead of a winter storm predicted to enter the region overnight. Crews will also be on hand overnight.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter weather advisory this afternoon for snow, sleet and freezing rain. Sleet and freezing rain are expected to start after midnight and last through noon on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Trace amounts of sleet and more than a tenth of an inch of ice is anticipated. According to NWS, freezing rain will change to rain by noon, Saturday. Temperatures will be in the mid-20s to start, rising to the lower 30s by mid-morning.
Priority roads consist of major arterial roads, emergency routes, central business districts and primary residential roads near schools.
