Festival Celebrates Rockville’s Relationship with German City
Rockville hosts breweries, bands and a German-themed bash as Rocktobierfest comes to Rockville Town Center from noon-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.
A delegation of 60 guests from Pinneberg, Germany will be there to meet the Rockville community as part of festivities marking 60 years as Rockville’s sister city. The free festival will feature a beer hall with beer from Gilly’s Craft Beer & Fine Wine, Gordon Biersch, 7 Locks Brewing and World of Beer, two stages of music, food, an artisan area and kids activities.
The Rockville German Band, the Alte Kumpel German Band and the German polka of Mike Surratt and The Continentals will provide a traditional German soundtrack for the festival. Eclectic cover tunes by Vinyl Rhino, the funky pop rock of Driven to Clarity and the pop and dance sounds of 3AM Tokyo will keep the party going.
Artisans will offer jewelry, hand-painted glassware, candles, natural bath and body products, handmade hair accessories, prints, and German-themed items for sale.
The festival is within walking distance of the Rockville Metro station. Free parking is available throughout Town Center. Paid parking is available in the Rockville Town Square garages for $5.
