The concept of villages, which allow older individuals to age in place in their own homes, is catching on in Rockville.
Villages are local, volunteer-led, grassroots organizations that aim to support Rockville neighbors who choose to age in place. They foster social connections through activities and events, and coordinate volunteer help at home using a neighbor-helping-neighbor model.
Each village is unique and reflects the character, interests and needs of the community that creates it.
In Rockville, villages in Twinbrook, King Farm, East Rockville and the West End are in development.
