The city’s search for its next police chief is moving ahead, with a recruiting firm hired to support the city manager’s advertising and selection process.
Thank you to community members who took the time to complete and return surveys about the future chief, either online or using the postcard in November’s “Rockville Reports.”
The responses were shared with Springsted|Waters Executive Recruitment, the recruiting firm contracted by the city to assist in the search for a new chief. The position is being advertised at springsted-waters.recruitmenthome.com/postings/1773 and in national publications. Springsted|Waters is also identifying and contacting potential candidates, including prospective minority and female candidates.
The leader of the firm’s recruitment team has met with City Manager Rob DiSpirito to discuss what the city is looking for in its next chief and to develop a recruitment strategy. The firm maintains communication with candidates about the progress of the search and the candidate’s status and will use job criteria and candidate profiles to develop a list of semifinalists for DiSpirito to consider. It also conducts reference and background checks and academic verifications for job finalists, and provides assistance with developing the final interview process, including suggesting interview questions and a candidate assessment process for the interview panel to consider.
The city will make a job offer to its preferred candidate this spring.
