The Mayor and Council will hold a public hearing on the refinancing of Fireside Park Apartments at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26. Proceeds generated from the refinancing will help fund modernization of the property.
Rockville Housing Enterprises, the city’s public housing agency, purchased the 236 mixed-income, affordable-housing rental units in December 2012. The financing agreement was structured to be refinanced seven years following the closing date.
Fireside Park Apartments, at 735 Monroe St., which consists of one- to three-bedroom garden-style units built in the 1960s. RHE bought the property to keep the apartment units affordable to a range of household income levels. RHE was created by the Mayor and Council to own and administer public and assisted housing in Rockville.
Anyone wishing to testify at the hearing should call 240-314-8280 before 4 p.m. Feb. 26 to have their names placed on the speakers’ list.
