Senior Center’s April Calendar is Packed

The Rockville Senior Center has a full slate of exciting and engaging programs, courses and events coming up in April to help seniors stay healthy and happy. Make sure you and your car are sympatico; get rid of unwanted prescription drugs; age healthily; reduce your stress; and much more!

  • Diabetes Self-Management Education Program, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Mondays from April 9-May 14.
    A six-week, free workshop presented by Adventist Healthcare Center for Health Equity and Wellness on dealing with diabetes. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/registration and register with course #4280.
  • Stress Reduction/Meditation, 1-2 p.m., Mondays from April 9-June 18.
    Relax and come to a more peaceful sense of being. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/registration and register with course #4281. $30 for center members, $35 for residents, $40 for nonresidents.
  • Senior Nutrition: What’s Left to Eat, 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
    A free seminar that explores current nutrition issues and research. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/registration and register with course #4307.
  • AAA CarFit, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.
    A comprehensive, free check of how well you and your vehicle work together. By appointment only. Call 240-314-8803 for details and to make an appointment.
  • Rockville Seniors, Inc. Spaghetti Dinner, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19.
    Enjoy a night out with the family (and a game of bingo), and support RSI. $13 in advance; $15 at the door; kids 12 and under, $4 in advance or $6 at the door.
  • Drug Take Back Program, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 19.
    The Rockville City Police Department collects your unused drugs for proper disposal in the senior center lobby.
  • Police Academy, 10:30 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, April 25.
  • Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body, 1-2 p.m. Thursday, April 26.
    Insights into how to optimize physical and cognitive health as you age. Free. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/registration and register with course #4301.
