At the F. Scott Theater: Songs by Women, Leadership, Balalaikas and British Classics

Here’s what you can see in May and June at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre:

“A Spring Concert of Songs Composed by Women,” presented by the Rockville Chorus.
Bryan Seith, director. Refreshments in the lobby after the show. 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 20. No tickets required.

Kids Leadership and Multicultural Competition, presented by Little Malaika International.
Little Malaika International Leadership and Multicultural Program is an activity for boys and girls aged 7-12 that aims to empower kids to become leaders, encourage them to make a difference in their communities, and promotes intercultural exchange among diverse communities. Children take part in a fun competition to become Princess Malaika and Prince Malaika. The event aims to raise support for children with autism. 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26. Tickets cost $20; $12 for students and children 12 and younger.

“Oh My Stars!” Washington Balalaika Society’s spring concert.
A spring concert that showcases WBS’s array of stars. Svetlana Nikonova, conductor; Andre Saveliev, balalaika virtuoso; Peter Omelchenko, domra virtuoso; and other bright stars from their musical family. 8 p.m. Saturday, June 2. Tickets cost $25; seniors, $20; students, $15; children younger than 12 are free.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience,” presented by The Victorian Lyric Opera Company.
Maidens in the village are besotted with Reginald Bunthorne, a moody and handsome poet, but he only has eyes for the milkmaid, Patience. The problem? Patience is in love with her childhood sweetheart, Archibald Grosvenor, who happens to be a real poet, but feels she cannot marry him because he is just too perfect. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, June 8, 9, 15 and 16; 2 p.m. Sundays, June 10 and 17. Tickets for Friday, June 8 are a special opening-night price of $14. On Sunday, June 10, enjoy a pre-show backstage tour and post-show Q&A.
Tickets cost $28; $24 for seniors 65 and older; and $20 for students.

“Best of Britain,” presented by Rockville Brass Band.
Includes all-brass music from the Renaissance to today, played by one of the premier community ensembles in Montgomery County. 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23. Tickets are $10.
