When it comes to transportation options, there’s no better place to be 60-and-older than at the Rockville Senior Center.
Take the Call N Ride program, for example, which provides subsidized coupons to pay for local taxi rides. This monthly program allows seniors to get a book of taxi coupons (valued at $34) for a subsidized fee, based on income, to use to get to doctors’ appointments, the grocery store, the pharmacy and more.
Senior Services also provides complimentary door-to-door bus transportation to the Rockville Senior Center for Rockville residents, Monday-Friday. Pickup times are at 9 and 11 a.m. Return rides are at noon, 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Door-to-door transportation to local grocery stores is also provided four days a week. Reserve pickup times by calling 240-314-8810 before 2 p.m. the day before needing transportation, and by 2 p.m. Friday for transport on Monday.
Learn more about ride options with Transportation 101, 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, which will teach attendees about Uber, Lyft and GoGo Grandparent.
Ride in style and comfort on a charter bus with a variety of popular local trips offered each season. A lottery is held seasonally to reserve places. The next will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 16 for Senior Center members, and Aug. 17 for non-members.
This fall’s trips include the National Museum of the American Indian, Rainbow Comedy Playhouse, American Music Theatre and a mystery trip (find out where you’re going when you get there).
