Take a walk to a Rockville park, Wednesday, Oct. 10, and be part of a national Walk to a Park Day campaign by the Trust for Public Land, the National Recreation and Parks Association, Urban Land Institute and the City of Rockville.
The three national organizations are organizing the day as part of their 10-Minute Walk to a Park Campaign, with the goal of providing enough parks so everyone in the country has a park within a 10-minute walk.
Rockville has about 16 acres of open space for every 1,000 residents, and the Rockville Recreation and Parks Department will mark Oct. 10 by encouraging the community to walk to one of the city’s 65 parks. As well as being attractive areas to picnic, Rockville’s parks have numerous fun features for the family, including basketball courts, shelters, charcoal grills and ball fields.
