The City of Rockville is teaming up with Peerless Rockville and Heritage Montgomery to update signs that guide visitors through two historic walking tours in the city.
The new signs will act as guides to historic landmarks on the Early Rockville and African-American Heritage walking tours. The signs currently along the route are more than a decade old and showing significant wear and tear.
“The new signs will be accessible and readable, and we hope they’ll last 10-20 years into the future,” Rockville’s Chief of Zoning Jim Wasilak told Rockville 11.
The redesigned signs will have an embedded QR code, directing those following the tours to an interactive map, along with pictures and historical documents about each location, that can be accessed via smartphone.
The signs will be installed at each location throughout October.
