Rockville’s Mayor and Council Select Three to Go Forward for Council Vacancy Interviews

Five Applicants Interviewed Tuesday Evening

The Mayor and Council continued their interviews of candidates for a vacancy on the Rockville council, Tuesday, March 5, selecting three to go forward to a third interview round to be held Wednesday, March 20.

The interviews will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Mayor and Council chambers of City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.

They three candidates are:

Twenty-one individuals were initially interviewed by the Mayor and Council on Saturday, March 2. The selection of five candidates to move forward was announced that afternoon.

Materials submitted by applicants — a narrative of their relevant experience and background, and a statement of their priorities and vision for the city — are on the city’s website

The vacancy was created following the election of Julie Palakovich Carr to the Maryland House of Delegates to represent District 17, which includes Rockville. Palakovich Carr resigned on Jan. 8. The final candidate selected will serve the remainder of that term.

Interviews will be televised on channel 11, and livestreamed at www.rockvillemd.gov/rockville11 (select “Live video streaming” under “Watch Rockville 11 Programming.”)
