Suzan Pitman

Candidate for Council

I am running for City Council to ensure that the needs and aspirations of the people of Rockville are heard, respected and implemented.

Rockville is a caring, welcoming city and how we welcome new neighbors while retaining our current residents is important to all of us. Human-scale development, plentiful, safe sidewalks and bicycle lanes, a mature tree canopy along with ample green space, and thriving small business and art and culture communities are essential to our well-being. Along with our neighborhoods, I have actively and consistently championed updating North and South Stonestreets, and I am delighted that the first new construction on North Stonestreet in decades will soon break ground and will include public art and off-street parking. As your council member, I will proactively reach out to all of the city’s neighborhoods, connect them with one another, and work together on projects that make all our lives better.

As a three-term president of the East Rockville Civic Association, I brought together City staff, residents, and business owners to engage in learning more about what goes into the planning process, and then to use that learning to build an informed set of neighborhood plans that honor our history while embracing the future. I’ll bring that same focus on community-based processes, collaboration, and consensus with me to City Hall.

Your vote for me is a vote for someone committed to being your champion.
