David Myles

Candidate for Council

Serving others is the underlying principle guiding my professional life and is the reason I am running to serve as a Rockville City Councilmember.

Service is the reason I chose to complete my pediatrics medical training in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins Hospital when I first moved to Maryland in 2010 after having completed medical and graduate school at Yale University. I then served three years active duty in the United States Navy, worked with a colleague to improve the provision of mental health services to all children on base and was deployed on a humanitarian medical mission in Central and South America. In 2016 I returned to Maryland (Rockville) upon the completion of my active duty assignment.

Supporting the healthy development and education of our most valuable natural resource, our children, is a primary focus of my professional and civic life and it is why I served on the PTSA at Julius West Middle School. I also currently serve on the Rockville Goes Purple opioid awareness planning committee to educate our community and support those affected. Additionally, I have served as the physician representative for Montgomery County’s Mental Health Advisory Committee. Finally, I have served on the Rockville Bike Advisory Committee (RBAC) where I advocated for safer streets for all forms of transit.

At this time, I currently work and volunteer at Holy Cross Hospital. My family and I live in Tower Oaks and are members of Lincoln Park’s Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
