Cynthia Cotte Griffiths

Candidate for Council

I’ve served the community in civic leadership roles, including over ten years in appointed city positions. I’m running for City Council to ensure we have adequate resources for city services, housing for all life’s stages, and robust job growth to keep Rockville the city we love.

To work on our traffic issues, I currently serve on the Traffic and Transportation Commission and joined the Pedestrian Advocacy Committee because, after being involved in a pedestrian accident with the driver at fault, I know we can do better.

In my volunteer and professional work, I’ve devoted myself to improving the well-being of our community. I chaired the Human Services Advisory Commission for almost six years, to secure a strong safety net for our residents. Professionally, I’m Executive Director of a statewide organization providing immigration legal services in Rockville Town Center. I’ve served on the Microtransit Task Force, Rockville Summit Housing Committee, 2009 Boards and Commissions Task Force, and Sesquicentennial Committee.

I’m passionate about communicating to Rockville’s residents on issues that affect them. I edited Rockville Central and Rockville View, online resources that provided valued information and encouraged civic participation.

As a mother of two sons, I’ve held elected school leadership positions, including most recently as Richard Montgomery HS PTSA President until my youngest graduated in June. I was Committee Chairman of Cub Scout Pack 928 and am a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Kiwanis Club, and Rockville Chamber. My husband and I have lived in Rockville for 25 years.
