Make Volunteering One of Your New Year’s Resolutions

Want to do some good deeds in the new year? Rockville has dozens of opportunities available for teens and adults, from snow shoveling to mentoring to stream cleanups.

Whether your passion is helping others or the environment, you can use your free time to lend a hand. Here are some examples:

Adopt a stream:
Individuals, families, businesses and community groups can adopt a stream. Formally adopt a stream or participate in a one-time cleanup. Even a small group of volunteers can remove large amounts of debris from streams in a short period of time.

Join a board or commission: Consider joining a board, commission or committee to help provide recommendations to the Mayor and Council on issues that matter.

Youth mentor: Offers support and encouragement to a child, helping them reach their full potential.
