Multimedia Competition Entry Deadline Extended

A little extra time at home could be rewarding for Rockville high school students with a creative take on human rights.

The city’s Human Rights Commission has extended the deadline for entries for its Multimedia Scholarship Competition through Friday, May 29.

Formerly known as the Multimedia Contest, the revamped annual program is an opportunity for students who live in and/or attend high school in Rockville to compete for tuition and/or book scholarships by responding to one of two prompts focused on human rights.

The prompts, applications and additional information can be found at www.rockvillemd.gov/humanrights.

Students may choose their desired medium, e.g., an essay, poem, song, painting, or other medium, through which to respond to the prompts. Submissions will be judged by a panel comprised of high school faculty, community leaders and HRC members. Judging will be based on creativity, work quality and relevance.

First-, second-, and third-place winners will be announced at a Mayor and Council meeting and will be awarded up to $2,500 in scholarships.
