Annual National Pastel Show
to Exhibit at Glenview Mansion
Art Gallery

A painting by Donna McGee, on exhibit until Oct. 6.

The Maryland Pastel Society will present its Annual National Pastel Juried Show, beginning Oct. 15 at the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery.

Desmond O-Hagan, a master pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a member of the “Master’s Circle” of the International Association of Pastel Societies, will be juror and judge.

The show’s opening reception will be held at the Glenview Mansion from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15, with guitarist Guy Robert Jean singing French, Spanish, Creole and English ballads. The exhibition will run through Nov. 17.

Woodwork and an Artful Movie
Artful Tuesdays at the mansion begin Sept. 12. At 7 p.m., see a free and open-to-all demonstration and introduction to woodworking by members of the Woodworkers Club of Rockville.
At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, Wine and Film in the Conservatory will screen “Séraphine,” a French/Belgian film with English subtitles that tells the story of a simple cleaning lady, drawn to the beauty of nature, who starts painting brilliantly colorful canvases at the age of 41. This event features a cash bar and is open to those 21 and older.

Still on Exhibit
Continuing through Oct. 6 is Chet Stein’s nature photography, the mixed-media paintings of Tinam Valk, large abstract paintings by Donna McGee and Xiaosheng Bi’s nature-inspired porcelain vessels.
