The Victorian Lyric Opera Company will hold three performances of “Chris and the Wonderful Lamp.” A four-act operetta by John Philip Sousa, it tells the story of a young man who buys Aladdin’s lamp at an auction and employs the genie to help him see his love, Fanny, who is sequestered in a school for girls.

Performances are 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept 9; and 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10. Tickets are $28 for adults, $24 for seniors and $20 for students.

Rockville Little Theatre will perform “Almost, Maine,” a tale about a mythical New England town where love is in the winter air, coming and going in strange, unexpected and hilarious ways.

Performances are 8 p.m., Sept. 22, 23, 29 and 30, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. Tickets are $22, $20; for students and seniors 62 and older.

The Wine and Improv Series continues in its new Friday night slot at 7 p.m., Sept. 15. Led by a theater professional, dive into the world of improv theater — no experience needed. Enjoy a glass or two of wine and an evening of laughs. Must be 21 to take part. Tickets: $35/person; $60/couple, which includes one drink ticket; additional wine and beer are for sale.
