Albert Budd “Frog” was honored with the Bill Mason Award for Outstanding Performance on Dec. 7 during the city’s annual awards ceremony celebrating the service of City of Rockville employees.
Budd, a maintenance worker in the city’s Department of Public Works, was nominated by members of AFSCME Local 1453. With more than 40 years of experience in all areas of the city’s utilities division, Budd was recognized for his willingness to teach and help co-workers complete tasks safely and correctly.
In presenting the award, AFSCME Local 1453 President Jerrod Johnson said Budd “exemplifies the best qualities of the Bill Mason Award.” He praised Budd’s work ethic, including his habit of arriving to work early and staying late, whenever needed, in all types of weather. At year’s end, Budd has always accrued more annual leave than he can roll over, Johnson said.
The award is named for the late William “Bill” Mason, who served as an example of outstanding performance and dedicated service to the City of Rockville. The award recognizes a hardworking employee who has demonstrated exceptionally high-quality service, straightforwardness, willingness to go the extra mile and exceptional attendance.
