At the F. Scott Theater in March: Intrigue, Shakespearean Ballet and Celebrating Six Decades

The Victorian Lyric Opera Company presents Jaques Offenbach’s “La Périchole” in English, at 8 p.m., March 3-4, and at 2 p.m., March 5.

To suit the whim of the viceroy — a great man for the ladies — an attractive street-singer (La Périchole) is brought to court and made a countess by the simple expedient of marrying her to a newly titled “count,” who is really her street-singer partner and lover. Good comedy character parts, engaging romantic intrigues, colorful costumes and delightful music, including the celebrated “Letter Song.” Ages 13-plus.

Tickets cost $28 for adults; $24 for seniors, and $20 for students.

Rockville Civic Ballet presents Shakespeare’s comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” set to music by Mendelssohn, and his tragedy, “Macbeth,” set to music by Khachaturian, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 18, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 19.

Tickets are $17, adults; $13, children (12 years old and under); $13, seniors (60 years old and older). Group rates: $16.50 for seven or more adult tickets; $12.50 for 10 or more children/senior tickets.

Under the direction of John Saint Amour, the Rockville Concert Band will celebrate 60 years of the band’s history with a special 60th Anniversary Concert, 3 p.m., Sunday, March 12.
