Rockville is giving away free bicycles in 2017 to students in grades one through five, and all those kids need to do to get one is to prove they’re a TERRIFIC citizen — Trustworthy, Earnest, Respectful, Responsible, Involved, Fair, Industrious and Caring.
To be eligible, students must have a sponsor to monitor their progress fulfilling six out of 16 “good deeds,” such as perfect attendance in school for one month, volunteering with a charity, picking up litter in a public place, or helping someone who is sick or elderly.
All successful participants receive a certificate for taking part and are invited to attend the Rockville Mayor and Council meeting, Monday, May 1, at 7 p.m. Awardees receive their reconditioned bikes and new helmets at a special event, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Sunday, May 21, hosted by Rockville Bike Hub.
Bike donations will be received from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at the Glenview Mansion parking lot, 603 Edmonston Drive. For more details, email [email protected] or visit www.rockvillebikehub.org.
