Celebrate Senior Center Month at Rockville Senior Center

The national celebration of Senior Center Month in September is all about “powering connections.” Where better to do that than the city’s hub of activity for the 65 and older community at the Rockville Senior Center?

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Hispanic Heritage Festival from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with entertainment, music, lunch and dancing at the Senior Center ($15 members/$22 nonmembers; (course #31211).

Learn about your Medicare options from the Montgomery County State Health Insurance Assistance Program at a Medicare Open Enrollment Seminar, noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Sessions are free and held at the senior center from 10-11:30 a.m. (course #33017) and from noon-1 p.m. (course #33018; en español).

The free Family Fall Festival, 1-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 will have games, music, exercise demos, crafts and food trucks (course #33619).

The Rockville Senior Center will celebrate Montgomery County’s annual Active Aging Week from Monday, Sept. 30-Sunday, Oct. 6. Events include the Maryland Relay, 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30 (course #33195); Morning Meditation, 11:30 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Oct. 2 (course #33764); Rolling into the Morning, 11:30

Flu Shot Clinic

Prepare for flu season with a flu shot provided by Giant pharmacists. Flu, COVID-19, etc., are available. Participants must bring Medicare or other insurance cards. Age with Grace

Healthy Eating as We Age

Learn the benefits of eating healthily, how to make healthy eating fun and what food choices to make.

Fall Risk Assessments

Physical therapists from Adventist Rehabilitation Center will assess your mobility and discuss how to help your balance and avoid falls. Call Betty Figlure at 240-314-8803 to schedule an appointment.

National DEA Drug Take Back at Senior Center

Rockville City Police Department officers will take unused, unwanted and expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for proper disposal. 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Sept. 10. Free.

Peripheral Neuropathy Webinar

Dr. Omid Motabar will share management tools on peripheral neuropathy, as well as research and treatments. Course #33621. 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Free.

Aphasia Support Group

A monthly group that helps stroke survivors, particularly those with aphasia, overcome social isolation through guided communication activities, enhancing conversational abilities in a supportive environment. Course #32503. 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Better Breather’s Club
