Charles Littlefield

Candidate for Council

Rockville consistently ranks among the best places to live in the US. We are especially known for our high quality of life, our educated and engaged citizenry, and our diversity. Governing Rockville is about making a great city even greater, and proactively dealing with complex issues that could eventually threaten our City’s greatness. For the last ten years, I have been directly involved in addressing such issues; by working directly with city staff, residents, developers and city council. I currently serve on the City’s planning commission, having been unanimously appointed in 2013 and again in 2018. Prior to that, I represented residents as an appointed member of the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance Review Committee and the Charter Review Commission; was elected Vice-President of the East Rockville Civic Association; and served on the Job Growth & Residential Workforce working group during Rockville Summit 2012. My experience has taught me that we are a City of unique and proud neighborhoods, whose residents want to have a say over what may or may not change. Key to the vitality of our neighborhoods is the vitality of our town centers. Like it or not, our town centers compete with similar ones outside our City; we need to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure their success. If elected, I will continue working like I have for the past decade, while also taking on a new role, applying my economic and financial experience in defining the future investments needed to keep Rockville great.
