City Manager to Present Proposed Budget to Mayor and Council

Budget Available Online by Feb. 16; Offer Ideas Online and at Hearings

The proposed budget, for the fiscal year that begins July 1, will be posted at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget by Friday, Feb. 16. DiSpirito is scheduled to present the proposed budget during the Mayor and Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 26. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.

Public hearings on Oct. 16 and Nov. 13 offered community members an early opportunity to provide budget ideas. At their Nov. 20 meeting, the Mayor and Council discussed priorities for the operating budget and Capital Improvements Program for FY 2018, including results of the budget survey that the mayor and each councilmember completed. City staff detailed proposed water and sewer rates during a presentation to the Mayor and Council on Dec. 11, followed by a public hearing on the proposed rates on Jan. 22.

There is still time for community members to share their budget ideas. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/budget to learn more about the budget process and to use the city’s online survey to identify priorities for the operating budget and Capital Improvements Program for FY19. The first of two public hearings on the proposed budget is scheduled for Monday, March 19.

Rockville’s adopted operating budget for the current fiscal year totals $130.3 million. The Mayor and Council are scheduled to adopt the FY 2019 budget on May 14.
