City Manager Rob DiSpirito will present his proposed Fiscal Year 2020 city budget this month.

The proposed budget, for the fiscal year that begins July 1, will be posted at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget by Friday, Feb. 22. DiSpirito is scheduled to present the proposed budget during the Mayor and Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 25. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.

The Mayor and Council will hold a discussion of their budget priorities during their Monday, Feb. 4 meeting, followed by budget hearings and work sessions in March and April. The first of two public hearings on the proposed budget is scheduled for Monday, March 4.

There is still time for community members to share their budget ideas. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/budget to learn more about the budget process, and to use the city’s online survey to choose budget priorities and offer suggestions, including ideas for increasing revenue, reducing or modifying services, decreasing costs, and improving operational efficiencies. Staff will compile the online submissions and periodically submit them for the Mayor and Council’s review and consideration.

Rockville’s adopted operating budget for the current fiscal year totals $136.2 million. The Mayor and Council are scheduled to adopt the FY 2020 budget on May 6.
