A proposed sidewalk project would provide the only pedestrian connection on either side of Southlawn Lane between East Gude Drive and the eastern leg of Lofstrand Lane.
The project, which is part of the city’s Capital Improvements Program, seeks to increase pedestrian safety and accessibility to businesses along the road. It includes sidewalk, stormwater management facilities, curb and gutter, pavement repairs and storm drain upgrades.
A design consultant has prepared concept plans showing the alignment of the proposed sidewalk. City staff held a community meeting Aug. 2 at Lincoln Park Community Center to present the plans and explain the project’s benefits and impacts. Staff is working with the consultant to finalize construction plans, based on input received during the community meeting. The final plans will be used to bid the project for construction. Construction is anticipated to occur in spring 2018.
