City Seeks Applicants for Board of Supervisors of Elections

The City of Rockville is seeking applicants for immediate appointment to its Board of Supervisors of Elections.

The board conducts city elections, registers voters and keeps records in connection with these functions.

There are currently three vacancies. Each of the five members of the board is appointed by the Mayor and Council. Members’ terms run for four years and until their successors are appointed and qualified. The board elects its own chairperson.

In addition to conducting elections that are fair, open and accurate, the board conducts meetings – which are held more frequently during election years – to review and confirm nominating petitions submitted by candidates for city office, publicize the election, and review campaign finance reports filed by candidates and slates. The board also oversees the collection and tabulation of ballots.

According to its mission statement, the board “is to conduct fair and open elections that are safe and secure, provide access to the election process, protect the integrity of the vote, and maintain a transparent, accurate, and efficient process.”

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Supervisors of Elections, complete an Expression of Interest form at www.rockvillemd.gov/592/Join-a-Board-or-Commission.
